Tara Lodge enjoys a central location in Belfast, situated less than one mile from the city centre and merely a five minute stroll from the historic Queen's University. The Belfast Botanical Gardens are also nearby, as is the Ulster Museum. In the third century Cormac Mac Art made himself High King of Ireland and established the seat of High Kings of Tara. It remained the residence of the High Kings until the sixth century, when, according to legend, in consequence of a dispute between the King an St. Ruadhan, the saint cursed Tara and the Royal seat was deserted never to be reestablished.
